Hypothesis Testing Results

We tested the following theories by for statistical significance:
  1. Male and Female diabetic patients have same readmission outcomes
  2. Does change of medication have a significant effect on outcome on patient readmission?
  3. Does diabetic medicine prescribtion have a significant outcome on patient readmission?

Since these variables are categorical in nature, we have used the Chi-Square Test for testing the significance.

Male vs Female Readmission outcomes

Null Hypothesis:

Male and Female have the same readmission outcomes

Alternative Hypothesis:

Male and Female have the different readmission outcomes

Results

X_2 17.1925140485

p 3.37764728417e-05

The difference is statistically significant. H0 (Male and Female have the same outcomes) is rejected.

Readmission outcomes due to Change in Medication

Null Hypothesis:

Change and No Change in medication the same readmission outcomes

Alternative Hypothesis:

Change and No Change in medication have the different readmission outcomes

Results

X_2 94.4753050904

p 2.48169206195e-22

The difference is statistically significant. H0 (Change and No change in medication have the same outcomes) is rejected.

Effect of Diabetic Medication on Readmission outcomes

Null Hypothesis:

Diabetic Medication (YES/NO) have the same readmission outcomes

Alternative Hypothesis:

Diabetic Medication (YES/NO) have the different readmission outcomes

Results

X_2 286.003397265

p 3.69317938335e-64

The difference is statistically significant. H0 (Diabetic Medication (YES/NO) have the same readmission outcomes) is rejected.
